I just got back online after a huge storm in the area a couple of days ago. We had winds that hit 135 mph, in some places, along with a very heavy downpour that was a combination of snow and rain, take down trees, TV and radio transmission towers, power lines, rooftops, and a couple of ISP's, including the one I use.

There are still a lot of people without power in eastern Washington and northern Idaho. My ISP finally came up last night after being down for almost 48 hours. When I asked customer support on Friday what happened they said a "line" was cut. That means either they have no backup power if what they were referring to as a "line" was a power line, or they have no backup connection to the internet's main trunks if one failure can shut down entire multi-town areas that they service--they are a multi-state cable company.
