I had a job interview this morning. Although only a 3 month rolling contract it would be my first commercial IT job. My first real foot on the ladder. The job I have been looking for since I decided to change career, mostly because of oncoming tinnitus but, more worryingly, I couldn't hear the tinnitus for the creaking of my knees.
Nervous isn't the word, I did well, I think. What really lifted my spirits was being told I was 1 of only 4 candidates for 2 positions. 50/50, a toss of the coin.
I went to work, started at 5. Immediately I was taken down to a meeting room with all my colleagues who had started shift at the same time. We were informed that the client had served a written 180 day notice on the account. I'm getting paid off, again!!
Ironically, while I was in that meeting the agency was leaving me a voicemail telling me I got the job.
Delighted is not the word, especially since its about a 60% pay rise.
