Okay so I'm working on a small project for a friend and I'm having to learn a lot about html, css and php. I'm wondering if there are any certifications in these areas?

I figure if I'm going to have to learn it anyway then I might as well put it to good use.

Yup, CIW's the best and most highly valued webdesign cert out there. The books really are written very well indeed. Just a word of warning, the books (certainly the foundations anyway) don't cover the code in any great detail, therefore you may find this site useful.
