The important thing to bear in mind, however, is that certifications should be seen as benchmarking of your experience, and treated as such - especially as this is an industry where relevant experience is the most important thing when jobhunting. (i.e. you will see ads specifying x years' experience or x years' experience plus cert, but not cert plus no experience). Although some courses do not specify the amount of experience required to sit them, it is generally assumed throughout the industry that your pass is based on the strength of your experience to date.

Although it is possible to pass the exams with the use of a book and no commercial hands-on experience, the certification is not going to be worth as much to a future employer because you have indicated that while you have the knowledge to pass the exam, you don't have the breadth of experience to cover as wide a range of scenarios as if you'd had the same amount of experience as other candidates.

Regarding enthusiasm and willingness to learn - although you may meet some prospective employers who will appreciate this, they will definitely be in the minority, as hiring a less skilled member of staff requires a far longer induction period than for someone who can get going immediately. (We've just done that at work, and we've had to allocate someone to her for a month to train her up, which affects the workload of the rest of the team).

    Sorry for being discouraging...

    Ok chaps,

It seems to me that this thread has ran its course and no longer serves any useful purpose. We have had a lot of new members saying that the course is very good, and more seasoned members questioning if they are spamming us. My advice is that if you are considering this company then you take Joe up on his offer of sitting in on a class and make your own decisions.
