    Hi,

I am trying to learn more and more all the time and now that I can set up a home lan just recently I have been thinking about how to set up some kind of Wan or VPN so that I could, say, access a pc on another private lan and visa versa and share files.

I am on a small home lan and so is the other pc (5 miles away).

I have read a bit about VPN's, which seem to be one way of doing this but require server software? I don't fully understand how they work as I have had no server exposure.

I am new to this side of networking and am seriously interested in learning about it, not to mention the fact that being able to set up a "mini wan" if you like, would open up lots of opportunities for me.

    All advice and comments appreciated

    Thanks

    Sean :blink
