    Valerie,

I like you, and I think that your dedication is admirable.
But, given your age, I'm also a little bit freaked out by it.

I've watched your videos, and I can't really fault your presentation in any serious way - except for the obvious one - do people want to receive training from someone half their age?

But, whatever you do, you seem to do it well.

The main thing that bugs me is that you seem to be using this forum as a marketing tool - something that is really against the rules.

You don't really contribute to the community - and you could - but instead just pop up every now and then to promote yourself or ask for support.

If you want the members of the forum to support or vote for you, maybe you could give something back. I believe we have threads here relating to MOS/MCAS, but I guess it isn't really my place to set the rules.

Good luck though, I wish you well!

    :biggrin

This. Had I done similarly, I'd have been tossed out on my ear long ago.

The OP contributes nothing to the forum except spam and stealth-spam. For what it's worth I agree with BosonMichael's sentiments.

Valerie is representing a supposed organisation isn't she? Should be held to any standard any other person representing an organisation has to.

    :)

For what it's worth, she's not even eligible to enter the contest:

    Oops.

No mate - it's wrong on many levels.

Show's that being the youngest may not be the best thing after all...

But wait... there's more! :p How about the fact that CompTIA is not pronounced "comp-tee-eye-ay"? It's pronounced "comp-tee-ah". Call their corporate office and listen for yourself! :biggrin

Always, always, always take the time to do your research. 8)

I have to disagree with not-contributing thing. I offered a free 8 hour webinar class to all. The class is still going on every Sat. & Sun. 4-5pm on Webinar. Only 3 signed up. I offered free training. (and believe me I do not earn anything).

I was offered $20/hour to teach at a local computer learning center. (why would anyone hire me, I am an office master in both 2003 and 2007, I think there are less than 10 people in CA holding both master title, and I doubt anyone of them will take less than $50/hour) But instead, I told them I will do it for free, if they agree to co-host the class and offer free classes to local group home students, etc.

I think what Jonny means by contributing to the forum is:-

Advising people on what certifications they should take.
Helping people with technical issues they may have if you can.
    Welcoming new members
Discussing technical stories and issues that can cause problems in the work place.

That is how the community works plus a lot more.

It is commendable that you teach people for free or $20 or whatever but as far as I can see he is correct is saying that it looks like you have used the forum to advertise yourself wether it is for free or not.

    What GBL said.

Your offer was very generous, but ultimately giving away a free sample is also a common promotional tool.
There are other members here who offer goods or services, Cisco Lab Rat and BosonMichael among others - but they do so on the back of their ongoing contribution to the forum and for the benefit of its members.

But it isn't for me to set the rules, I'm just giving my opinion. There are no rules on how often you have to post or how much you have to contribute, so please don't assume I'm implying that there are.

As I said before, I've got nothing against you and I think that what you're doing is commendable - I was just passing a comment.

Oh, and you forgot to say 'please' :biggrin

By the way, are you still entering or is the age thing that BM quoted right? (not that I doubt him )
