Was chatting to the Company Director today about VMware and going on a VSphere course would make Craigie a happy chappy.

He has given the green light for it!

So I might change my goals for this year :biggrin

    You git! :D

We're not migrating for ages yet - it's not even on my 2K10 'roadmap' - although a sodding Exchange upgrade is :( - so I've got no chance of doing the course this year. My training budget has already been earmarked anyway - I'm finally doing my CCNP - so I might actually be doing some studying this year for the first time in yonks!

Had a vSphere test lab set up for a while, and am migrating my home environment in the next few weeks, so I'll hve a good tinker with it. I'm excited about the potential of distributed vSwitches - not so much about host profiles (since no other f***er touches my hosts at work except my US equivalent - who's even more of an anal nerd than I am).

Not to take this thread too far off topic but that’s all I’ve been doing the last few months– already on my second Exchange migration this year.

I’ve been working on the existing Exchange 2003 servers tonight to basically remove Exchange server and detach the server from the domain. What happens after I click ‘uninstall’? It asks for the Exchange 2003 CD, arrgh!

Why do I work remotely? So much pain! :biggrin

I haven't actually used VMware vSphere or ESX yet as most of our clients are SMB's, so tonnes of the usual mix.

However, we are do use it in our own hosting centre and for our clients offline backups.

We also have one of our larger clients who is planning (if they can get the budget) to condense there 30 production servers onto vSphere.

It's one of those subject areas that has always intrigued me, and I didn't really think I would have the opportunity to do the course.

One of the reasons I brought the ML115 was to start playing around with ESXi, got to get Exchange 2007 and then my MCSE upgrade out of the way first :D

We would be going virtual this year as we're moving to a new location and all servers would be virtualised. I have also been told would be going on a VMWare course sometime this year two:). Yeah! it's all well so far.
