Hi All, I've been out of certification for a little while and I feel like I haven't got a clue any more. Could someone help me figure out what my options are to stay VMware certified please? I am a VCP4 and VCP 5-DCV, which expires in 28-Feb-2016.

I've checked online but I'm out of touch and slightly confused by this statement [VMware recertification page]:
"Is there a course requirement to recertify?
Previously, a candidate was given a limited amount of time to upgrade their existing certification, after which a course was required. Effective with the announcement of this recertification policy, a candidate can recertify anytime within their two-year recertification period, without a course requirement. However, we recommend that you do enroll in training, as hands-on experience through on demand or live (classroom or virtual) classes will provide you with the latest education to better prepare you for the exam. "

Any help would be much appreciated. Sadly although I have a design role in my company, I've done hardly any VMware related work in the past 11 months :'( Something I might have to think about going forward, perhaps move to another account. Cheers, Jim

Sorry mate I know I'm being dim here. No course requirements for anything in the 5.x range of certs is that? That won't cover 6.x will it. Course it won't thats a silly question just checking. I'd try for a VCAP 5 DCD but it would take a mountain of study and even then....

Jim, as a current VCP you are entitled to take any VCP exam (or VCAP-DCA\VCIX) to renew your certification without attending any valid training course, that changes when the VCP expires.

Great choice mate, it looks really good that. I might join you there, NSX is awesome. Also I can see where I've been going wrong with regard to what I can sit. Looking at each cert as you say, it says any valid VCP negates the course. If you log in and then go to the section where it says what you can sit next, it still says you need the courses for everything except a VCAP5 or VCP5-DCV :S Thanks for pointing this out to me mate
