Um, I thought we'd established that they weren't dumpers?
If people want to support them, go nuts.

Advertising and marketing is a bit of a headache. Generally there are rules that govern what you can and can't do or say, but these tend to be difficult to police on the net. It goes back to the old scenario of which laws apply - the one in their country of origin or the ones for the country that you happen to be in?

I recently complained to the advertising watchdog we have here about some claims that a company made on their website. It was a UK company selling services in the UK only.
They were clearly claiming to be something they weren't.

The response came back along the lines of 'well, as it's on the website there's nothing we can do. If it was on TV or in a magazine though, we'd have them for that.'

If those are the rules we have, how's it ever going to get any better?

The point being Michael, they have not done it here nor at tech-unity. My post from Tom brought up the point about how they may advertise.

Where is the proof that they are a bd or there material may be bad. For you to keep hinting that they can be with out verification is called slander. I can find no proof that there is anything illegal about their products. They don't use the word braindumps in their meta tags on the homepage at all. You goggle 70-270 braindumps they are not coming up within the first 10 pages. Google just 70-270 bds and they are not coming up in there either. Because their ip ranges out of India is not evidence their work is not legit or copies. That they are based in India, I find it really hard to believe that they would go to so much trouble to conceal that fact if they were, when they would in all probability make more money promoting that they are a bd. There are real businesses that are in India. T-Cat friend that had that site for study materials bundle with exam discounts is from India living in the states. However, his website and the people who run the site are based in India.

We both know you will have friends that will buy your stuff when it hits production, you won’t ask them to write reviews for you? Moreover, even if you do not, should we doubt what they have to say because they are one of your friends or associates?
Your tag name is a walking bill board for your business Michael, and whenever you get the chance to bring it up you do. You post links to it asking people to check it out and let you know what they think . On some sites that would be consider spam. My point here is you have no proof and you shouldn’t suggest something like that without it.

No, they don't use the word braindumps in their meta tags. Neither do braindump companies. That doesn't mean they are or they aren't.

I never intimated that because they were from India, they were low quality. However, braindumpers HAVE found a haven in India and other countries, simply because if they were in the US, they'd be taken down. The only reason I mentioned India is because the spamvertisers all came from a small range in India. Never said UCertify was from there, and I haven't said that they're a braindump. You jump to conclusions when you say that I did.

I never said they were braindumps, so there's no slander... and I take offense that you say such, knowing me personally as you do. The point is... none of us know for sure whether they are or not. And I never said I had proof. I merely said that the manner in which a company does business (such as unauthorized spamming) is indicative of how they do business. I don't buy from folks that operate on the wrong side of the rules to where they give a shady appearance, whether they are or not. I just don't. Feel free to do so.

Certainly I'll ask friends to write reviews for me, as long as they're honest. But the reason I have friends on here is because I contribute to the community. These guys don't. Period.

Yes, my tag is a walking billboard. But I haven't posted, nor will I ever post, without someone asking about it.

Further, I haven't yet asked anyone to "check it out"... because there's nothing to "check out" yet.

So... take it as you will. I'm simply giving my knowledge of what I know about the subject. Buy them if you want... doesn't matter to me one bit. Because if you plan on buying a $29 product, you probably aren't interested in buying a $59, $79, $99, or $149 product.

EDIT: By the way, you know as well as I do that I don't trash companies out-of-hand... even back in my days with Transcender. I'd commonly tell people which of the companies were, in fact, legit. I could care less where people buy their training materials from... as long as they're legit companies. UC's marketing techniques left a very bad taste in my mouth... regardless of whether they've done it here or on TechU... they did it on MCSEWorld, CertCities, and several other sites, and that's enough for me.

you need to reread my post Michael. I never said you DID accuse them of being a dump, i said you suggested it with out any proof. Atleast that is how I took it, and apperently Jon and Monkey too.

Yes they do Michael, its one of the way that I check sites out when people ask about compaines that I've not heard of. However, if you don't belive me, follow the link below and view the source of the first top 3.

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=BRAINDUMPS&spell=1

I didn't say it was a bad thing. I said different sites have their opinion of spaming. You as well as the admins and mods here know that I think it is a big plus for any site to have people on a site that belong to product compaines or schools. Anything that helps make a users life a little eaiser on their cert quest is a great thing. Again, wasn't attacking you, was making a point.

Lee isn't trying to buy a 29 dollar product, she is trying to buy something that is on sale and that her wallet can afford. There is nothing wrong with this.

Oh and here is the siteadvisor from Mcafee.

Time to throw my two cents in. I always have liked the books by Sybex better than the MS Press books. Microsoft does not do a great job preparing people for their own tests. Too bad they cannot be more like Cisco in that respect.

The one exception is the Resource Kits, which are dry but comprehensive. They are a compilation of the better White Papers written on MS topics. Transcender tests are the Rolls Royce of test simulators, but come at a Rolls Royce price. There is also MeasureUp!, which is actually endorsed by Microsoft.

The thing to remember in taking a MS test, is that the MS solution is always the right one. In their tests, if you have a choice of a Cisco Router, or using a Windows server as a Router, the Windows Server would be correct.

Try to pick out the answer that is from outer space, and throw it out, and then the answer that is correct for a different question, and throw it out. That gives you a 50-50 chance. And read fast but thorough! The scenarios can really bog you down and suck up the time. And they sometimes reuse the same scenario but ask a different question, so watch out for that trick!

    Good luck on the test!

I would be very wary of that site for the reasons BBM has pointed out. They maybe good but they have scored enough negative points in my book to not be included on my trusted sites list.

I trust.. Brainbench, Transcender, Self Test and Measure up.

Maybe BrainBeacon will get added to the list once they have a site with content and a product to sell. :p

This doesn't mean they are dump providers, it just means I would not spend my money with them.

No, I don't suggest it. I simply said that IF they are, she's out money. If they aren't, then the usefulness of the product depends on whether the material is good or not.

Perhaps I should have said "some" braindump companies don't. Some say on their home page that "WE ARE NOT A BRAINDUMP!" Do you believe them? Of course not.

Yes, it IS good to have people from companies on... being a part of the community. That's not what these jokers are doing... they're signing up, posting a post about UC, and never posting again. They don't even say they're from the company... they just spit the company's name on a site, most likely to boost it in the search engine rankings. I can try to provide links to some, if you care to see them... at least, if I can find any that haven't been removed by their site admins.

You were completely attacking me... stating that I whore my company out whenever given the chance to bring it up. I challenge you to find 5% of my total posts on any forum that talk about my company. (EDIT: Looks to be 2 1/2% or less on this site, and that counts some false positives because of people using my full user name in the thread).

SiteAdvisor's looking for viruses... not the legitimacy of a company, nor the worthiness of the products they sell (again, to be sure you undersand, I haven't used it, so I have no idea whether it's worthy or not.)

So it's a UCertify blog on a free blogging site? Someone created the blog themselves, and named it UCertify. How does this equate to reviews? Sounds to me like more attempts to push themselves higher on search engines.

Doesn't surprise me that other forums have people stating good things about them. After all, multiple usernames from the same small range of addresses were posting their one-and-only posts to MCSEWorld and CertCities about how great UCertify is. Multiple people, same word-for-word text, and spammed to multiple forums (searchable in Google).

Again, for those who don't believe, I can find a couple of "busted" username examples to search using Google, if you want to see them.

I don't think anyone here's established anything, because none of us have used their full-version products.

Again, just so anyone doesn't misunderstand me... I'm not saying they are, and I'm not saying they aren't. I simply say "Be careful."

What the hell Michael, if I don't agree with you I'm attacking and offending you. However, if I do agree with you and use you and your company in a positive light which I have done on here and other sites by the way then I'm the greatest thing since white bread. Neither will happen again, I promise you that. And i will not argue with you over this thread becasue you pride has been pricked and you took offense to something that didn't exist anywhere but in your mind. The people here know me well and when I go after someone I'm never nice about it. A pissing contest will not help leehaa, and you know what, Lee passing that exam is all that is important in this thread.

    Sorry lee.

You weren't attacking me until you started talking about how I promote my company whenever I get the chance. Has nothing to do with my pride - it has to do with saying things that are untrue about me. How is this not attacking me?

Mitzs you are absolutely correct, and we are trying to give her the benefit of our advice. We do not have to agree with each other, it is down to Lee to separate what she thinks is the wheat from the chaf.

I also have to say that your remark regarding BBM and his BrainBeackon project was below the belt IMHO and even though you say you didn't mean it to be a personal attack, it very much came across as one to me.

Nope you are both wrong, I used it as an example as i used him as an example with the braindumping sites threads. Becasue you have not seen the poll for what he should names his company, and so on doesn't mean they don't exist and I just pulled it out of thin air. It means it just wasn't here where you guys couldn't see it. Michael knows what I'm talking about I didn't think i needed to go into details about it because again i was just using it as an example. Not taking shots at him. Because where it did happen the site owner is a friend of ours and I know Will didn't think of it as spam and neither did I. So take it how you will but thats not the spirit it written in and you know me well enough to know that I don't lie like that. If I wanted to take pot shots at him I would straight out. But he has worked hard to get where is he. I'm happy for his chance to do this and proud of him for making that leap. And as he says I know him so well he knows I wasn't doing that, it just the way he wants to take it. So be it, like I said I won't mention his product again. Good or Bad, and we will never have to worry about something like this again. Next time I need an example I will use Trip. Atleast I know he will take it in the light that it was ment.

That's not the point, Mitzs. You said that I mention my company whenever I get the chance, and that's simply not the case. Whatever you want to call it, that's an untrue statement.

For the record, I didn't post a poll about what to name my company... I posted a poll about potential logo designs, and AFTER I received permission to do so from the site owner.

...especially when you can't even begin to compare a regular contributor to a drive-by spam poster.

    Please don't fight! :(

I've decided to see postpone my exam and see what my Birthday brings (book-wise etc) and take time to pass as even if I did pass, it would be rushed and I don't think the information will stay in my head - so what's the point in that?!? Gonna take my time, and reset the goal for mid - end of Feb...and then postpone again if I have to!!

Very wise, after all it's not a race. The important thing is the knowledge you glean, you cant rush your own understanding. When you feel ready, book the exam.
