In case anyone is looking for a 'true' 100Mb hub to sniff traffic on (instead of a 10Mb one) I have this weekend availed myself of a NetGear DS104 via EBay and can confirm that it works like a charm. In the past two years or so I must have tried about twenty different makes/models that state they are '10/100Mb Hubs' but all of them were, in fact, cheap switches and thus absoultely useless for traffic sniffing. This is the first one I've found that is a real hub (i.e. a dumb repeater) and has been dumped in between my router and my cable modem - plumbed into my snort sensor and so far works perfectly at 100Mb.

Oh for simpler days when theis wasn't a problem - who woould have thought five years ago we'd have 20Mb conenctions to the net at home :biggrin
