And how many of those are being legally distributed under copyright? I see some O'Reilly books on there.

If it's too good to be true... it usually is.

 

The OU is great.
A few of the courses I did with them are now available for free almost word for word on OpenLearn...

 

Well I had a good look round the site, I couldn't see anything on copyright but many of the titles are quite old, so I assumed they were works where the author had decided to waive their copyright.

Feel free to corrent me if I'm wrong, I buy vast amounts of books and am not looking to defraud authors or publishers. If they choose to donate their work however, then thats great too.

 

Like I said, there are some O'Reilly books on there... I don't think they're in the biz of giving away free books...

Here's one, copyright 2006: PHP Cookbook - and it's still for sale from O'Reilly.

Just sayin'... these don't look like freebies.

I guess they figure if you like reading online you'll buy a copy, which I would if I was going to read more than 20 pages...
