    Oh, tough one.

I always used to be a Star Wars fan, but the prequels have changed everything - don't get me wrong, it is still awesome sci-fi, but it has lost some of its magic.

I'm a definate for the Matrix - but again, the other films somewhat destroyed everything that gave the original 'wow' factor.

Same for Highlander - the original had that sense of mystery, then they made a sequel which tried to explain everything by 'aliens'. Mad.

Speaking of which, 'Aliens' is a definate favorite - not the others though, although I watch 'Aliens vs Predator' when I'm pissed and haven't got anything better to do.

Chronicles of Riddick surprisingly good, as was Pitch Black.

Current favorite is 'The Island' with Euan McGregor. You can pick it up for £5 in ASDA and I urge anyone who likes 'The Matrix' sort of thing to watch it. I don't recall it ever having much of a following, but it is superb in a 'wooo, so that's what is going on...' sort of way.

Top Gun. Sorry - it's gay, but there we go.

The Black Hole - grown up Disney, spooky stuff if you think about it.

LOTR, the original semi-animated version - check it out.

National Lampoon Xmas Vacation - a must for the Christmas period, we have a ritual viewing every year.

    How many is that?
    Oh, whatever.

I spent a lot of time in Germany growing up, and saw a lot of films in German (some not even porn) so I have no idea what they were called in English. One was good, it's probably called 'Biohazard' or something with Rick Rossovitch.

Oh, and Terminator, except for the last one.

    Still reading?

    :blink

    Arse

    Forgot the Maltese Falcon

It has my favourite line from a film ever:

"I hope you're not letting yourself be influenced by the guns these pocket edition desperadoes are waving around"

    Bogart at his finest.

In fact, I could do another top ten just of film noirs, but that would be boring...

I agree! thats why I only picked Eps IV, V and VI :D

    They absolutely spoiled that, :(

...I thought I heard or read somewhere that they didn't get to finish completing the whole trilogy, ran out of cash or something, but I did see the anim version years ago!:unsure

    ...Just remembered Animal House...:biggrin

after reading the other threads, films begin popping up that you totally forgot about :biggrin , perhaps it would have been better to put into genre, but thats perhaps another thread :biggrin

(....just rembered another good one that no-one mentioned, My Cousin Vinney, very funny :D)

Not a lot to add to the thread and trying to get it down to just 10 would probably drive me insane....
With everyone on Highlander. 2 and 3 where just utterly pointless. Endgame went and altered the whole mythology trying to bring the TV series into the equation but I actually enjoyed both the series and endgame...
And Zeb, with you on pointless remakes and I admire your taste in "what the hells going on here??" films. Silent Hill (the games) really confused me, the film even more so.

    Just to add a couple of my choices tho;

Grosse Pointe Blank - the only film where I have ever come out of the cinema, bought another ticket and gone straight back in.

Serenity - Loved Firefly and it proves that the fanbase and the internet can resurrect a cancelled franchise.

Night Watch - Bloody amazing and I can't wait for the rest of the trilogy. Been a fairly long wait but the second one is finally on the horizon.

Resident Evil 1&2 - Complete no brainers but I can watch them repeatedly without getting bored with them and sooo grateful they didn't completely shaft the source material.

    Gonna shut up now...

    Lord Deckard.
