Today, I finally grew up...

    It feels so surreal, why is it when you say the word 'engaged' it's alright, but if it's about you it feels super weird?

    To get to the point, I thought I would share with you good folk who have inadvertently provided me with lots of useful IT advice during my time at these forums with the news that I proposed to my girlfriend yesterday.

    Thankfully she said YES! but mercifully I am even more thankful you only do it once (hopefully) in your life. What a nerve wracking experience! I'm sure many of the users on this forum have been through similar experiences. I was breaking out in cold sweats all last night!

    Anyway, off to enjoy the long weekend now with an engagement party later today. :)

    Congrats mate, the other things to look forward to is the wedding (don't let that stress you, it didn't us so we enjoyed the day alot more) and the birth of our first (and only) child :biggrin

    Congratulations mate.

    Know what a defining moment in my life was?

    Not first girlfriend.
    Not getting engaged.
    Not getting married.
    Probably not even the birth of our son.

    It was the moment I heard him say to someone 'that's my dad'.
    Never felt anything like it.

    So you've got plenty of joy ahead of you.
    Make the most of it!

    It'll feel weirder being called "husband". Major congrats!

    Hearing my oldest boy call me "Daddy" for the first time has got to be in my all-time favorite moments. :biggrin

    Thanks a million everyone! It still feels surreal, has most definitely not sunk in yet. It probably won't even when I'm waiting at the altar!

    Super weird stuff; nerve wracking but such a good feeling at the same time! :)
