a while back I posted a thread saying I Was doing part time computer building and virus removal along side my current job. I was being paid per job as and when required.

I have received a letter this morning saying that I will still be doing jobs when required but they want to give me a monthly retainer of £1000 + pay for any jobs I do:D

This isn't going to start until the end of March but according to the letter clients have been impressed with the builds I have done especially the 3 I did where cable management and cooling was the number one priority. Also the refurb I did of the Sun box was mentioned in the letter although I left half a ton of blood inside it after I slashed my hands open on the metal bar over the hard drive bay:).

We'll see what happens but this looks pretty cool to me :)

You should play on the old security paranoia around nowadays where everyone is convince people are stealing their identities through their PC ;) do it side by side with your PC builds.

But instead of advertising as "PC handy man blah blah blah" which sounds really common, advertise as "security Technician *statistics on security whatever* secure your pc today £25 an hour.

that way it sounds less like some geezer whos good at PCs lol.

I might do that actually :p non of that was aimed at you but an example of what you see in newspapers etc.

Same! I really want to build one for home gaming use but my 360 has converted me to console gaming.... plus I don't really have the spare cash... :(

All I get stuck with now is PC repair for people in the office.

Still it's not that bad... I usually get paid with Southern Comfort. :D (and no, that's not a metaphor)

why not convert your xbox? I have seem some crazy water cooled jobs with added gpu's. I'm strictly cash, I'll buy my own booze heh heh.

I have a GTX 260 and it's an awesome card and I have seen the 280 in action but not the 295 but if it's an improvement on the previos 200 series then they'll be great

That is really good news you should rightly be pleased.

I am much the same, and my last 2 pc gaming attempts really hit that home - especially with all the copy protection and games for windows live bull that comes with them now.
