Think there will be an upgrade for VISTA?

    Hey guys

    I'm planning on doing MCDST in the near future.

    Do you think there will eventually be an upgrade exam for MCDST's to take that will cover Vista ?

    How long do you think it will be till MCDST on XP is obsolote ?

    I think there already is mate, i think its 620 or 621, someone will confirm this tho.

    Yep, it's the 70-621. This will give you MCTS: VIsta and the MCITP: EST (the new version of the MCDST).

    As for when the MCDST XP will be obsolote... Put it this way MS is only retiring the 2000 route next year, the 2003/XP route I would say still has a good few years life in it. As alot of companies are only just upgrading to XP now, the uptake of Vista in alot of companies will be like XP - Slow.

    Glad I've got a couple of years to get MCDST done, got to get my A+ first :p....atleast I can then upgrade to Vista afterwards.....there's gonna be a lot of M's on my CV one day I hope lol

    According to MS Vista's replacement is scheduled for release around 2009.

    Are you talking about Windows "Vienna" (formerly known as Blackcomb). Can't wait :) Hopefully I'll be more impressed with that than I currently am with Vista.

    The XP certification will become "obsolete" when companies stop using Windows XP. Considering that my last employer is still using Windows 2000, I'd bet that any XP-based certification will be useful for years to come.
