So, how did CF become the thriving community it is today?

Was it an original idea by one man/woman? A borrowed idea?Or was it a few guys sitting in a bar one day & one thought;

"you know guys, we should start a forum"
"Great idea, but what about?"
"Well, cars, lapdancers, gadgets? You know?"
"Nah, sounds shite. Anyway how ya getting on with those certs bob?
"Not bad, I'm getting stuck with a few things &..."
"WAIT.. THAT'S IT!!"
"Aww ****ing hell tim, ya damn near mad me shite myself, & I spilled my beer. You can get the next one. Anyway whats what?"
"Well we could..."

And so CF was born.

And no-one invited tim drinking again

Were there dark modless days, where trolls lurked under every bridge & Admins fought chaos on a daily basis. Where contributing members trickled in, while trolls were being kicked out. etc,etc. You get it

yeah the filter is actually a mad old woman in the guise of "ADMIN" the freaky third boss that no one knows......*insert spooky emoticon*

good question though and imsure someone will change you're version mate, i'd prefer if it was that!! lol!

 

Actually, we do have filters to keep things from getting a little too racy. How CF got started. You'd have to talk to Si and Gav. They pretty much are the founding members. I came along a week or two later.

 

Interesting question, nice one! so Gav and Si, how did it all come about?

Did this place not start out as the "alternative unofficial NITLC forum"...at least that is what was said during our XP workshop! I'm sure the tutor was joking...lol!

 

I'm gonna let this one hang a little bit longer - I think there could be great speculation involved here .......

I was quite fond of the little fellas. In my version they invented CF

Well it all started when I got my broadband, I used Plusnet and they gave me some PHP enabled webspace and an SQL database. I looked around the net to see what I could do with it and came across phpbb, installed it on my webspace and played around with it. I was also a student at NITLC at the time and so decided to post on their forums to see if anyone would like to help me out with starting a community. Some of the now staff members joined and the rest they say is history. (others may wish to add their part.

The growth has been slowly nurtured and members have come and gone but we seem to have continued a steady growth to where we are today.

I'd like to hear how you heard about CF and how you came about become a part of our community, so lets hear it people.

theories are better than truths cos you can play around with them, twist them...lets keep going a bit longer people...then one day Si or Gav will be ready to give us the true story...

Thanks for posting that Si! I am just glad that CertForums was created!

 

CertForums has a rather rapid and startling developmental history. What initially attracted members here was the common bond of being students a the same training vendor, everyone trying to work together to learn their craft.

What it developed into is just startling. No longer tied to a particular trainer or any outside agency, CF exists to provide a forum for many students, mostly in the UK but ultimately all over the world, to share their experiences and work together. Thanks for inventing the thing, Si.
