Hi guys,

I've not been about recently as I've been studying for my A+ and working, you know the drill.

I recently applied for some jobs, even though I've not finished my A+, and was quite shocked when I got a few callbacks. I was invited to an interview recently for a Help Desk Analyst job and today I got a call offering me the job!

You guys here are the ones I owe for suggesting that I look for jobs during my study, and you advised me on my CV when I decided to apply.

I went into the interview as "14k negotiable" and expected to either not get the job, or end up with around 12k - if I was lucky.

The job has been offered to me at an impressive 15k

Thanks all for the help and support you have given me in the past few months!

I hope this post is an inspiration to anybody else out there looking to get into IT.

Yep, you CAN get an entry-level IT job without the A+! And you're living proof! This is what we try to tell people on these forums... certifications are great... but they're not required. They merely serve to give you an advantage over your competition.

Continue on your quest for the A+ and other certifications! You're well on your way, now that you've landed your first real IT job!!! This is what it's all about!

 

D I also worked for Morrisons - briefly - I was with Safeway, who were bought out by Morrisons and then our store was sold to Somerfield :P

 

Yes mate, and that's exactly why I've posted here. I was inspired by somebody else who managed to gain a job in IT before obtaining any certifications and now I hope my achievement can inspire others to carry on too!
