    Hi,

I am interested in writing MCTS ertification.
Could you please suggest me how much time is needed to prepare for exam MCTS:70-536.
So that I can look for dates in Prometric and plan accordingly.
I am pretty good learner and good developer.
This is going to be my first Microsoft certification exam.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ranjitha

It's impossible to say - everyone is different. You should take as long as it takes - until you fully understand all of the concepts. That's probably not the answer you want to hear... but nobody can tell you how long YOU should take. :)

Time I meant for a typical programmer who had moderate experience in C# and ASP.net?
I meant the time people usually take to prepare for exam and give it a shot.
I guess its not going to be 2 years nor 10 days . I might be somewhere in between :dry

    Thanks for replying,

    With or without a job?
    With or without a spouse?
    With or without kids?
    With or without other responsibilities?
With or without the ability to learn quickly?
With or without the ability to learn using only books?
With or without the requirement to take a structured training course?
    With or without unlimited finances?

I typically discourage people from asking, "How long should I take to study for this exam?", because no good can come from the answer. If you take longer than what you have heard is "normal" or "average", you will put undue pressure on yourself to hurry up and get it done. If it seems like it is taking less time than what you have heard is "normal", you will put undue stress on yourself thinking that you're missing something, so you unnecessarily overstudy. The truth is, your pursuit of IT certifications shouldn't be a race, nor should it be timed. You should study until you get a firm understanding of the concepts, and that takes as long as it takes - no more, no less.

Hi & welcome to CF :)

    Like BM said

Alot of factor dictate how long... That's like saying "how long is a piece of string?", don't rush, you'll know when you're ready :)
