i spent several days last week at work trying to get to grips with subnetting. needless to say i couldnt find one website that gave the definitive description. had to keep reading various guides over and over again and it's slowly sinking in

Don't rely on it too much... you need to be able to do subnetting/supernetting in your head. The CCNA is a demon when it comes to time management, and if you don't know something (especially IP subnetting) within a split second, you WILL run out of time.

Consider this a timely warning.

Using a "crib sheet" isn't "helping" you... but doing it over and over and over and over and over

and over and over again is the only thing that's gonna help you... use the "crib sheet" ONLY to check your answers AFTER you've struggled through them.

You know I'm just lookin' out for your best interests. No panic here... just like to be sure my friends are as prepared as possible.

For the record, I just burn the end of my pitchfork... keeps me from having to carry two separate things.

 

you need to look in the N+ board. I know I have posted this site plus several others things there on subnetting.

 

thanks but i've searched the forums and have several sites which i've read and re-read but ill slowly get there. i'm jumping the gun a bit any way by giving my self a head start on this before i *need* to know it
