Starting to brush up on networking in preparation for my CCNA (as the novel is cracking on to nearly done!)

Found this 'cribsheet' whilst online, and thought it might be useful to share.

Also, is www.learntosubnet.com still seen as the 'de facto' online resource for this *oh so wonderful* topic?

i spent several days last week at work trying to get to grips with subnetting. needless to say i couldnt find one website that gave the definitive description. had to keep reading various guides over and over again and it's slowly sinking in :ohmy

Don't rely on it too much... you need to be able to do subnetting/supernetting in your head. The CCNA is a demon when it comes to time management, and if you don't know something (especially IP subnetting) within a split second, you WILL run out of time.

Consider this a timely warning. 8)

Oh don't worry BM, I know that one day I'll have to be able to subnet like a penguin sliding through a grease trap. But right now, I subnet as quickly as an asthmatic snail trying to traverse a particularly steep lump of rock. I need all the help I can generally get!

Using a "crib sheet" isn't "helping" you... but doing it over and over and over and over and over

    :ohmy <breath>

and over and over again is the only thing that's gonna help you... use the "crib sheet" ONLY to check your answers AFTER you've struggled through them. :)

    No pain... no gain.

Don't panic, I'll use it sparingly and wisely. Put your pitchfork and torch down, and tell the random mob to turn back. There are no chart-reliant hippies in this thread :)

    Dang hippies! :x

You know I'm just lookin' out for your best interests. No panic here... just like to be sure my friends are as prepared as possible. :)

For the record, I just burn the end of my pitchfork... keeps me from having to carry two separate things.
