Holiday period this year has certainly thrown me in at the deep end...
Due to an admin error my company has managed to allow the internal network administrator two weeks holiday the exact same dates as the field IT managers leaving the company IT in my hands for two weeks. A very busy fortnight ahead giving me an excellent opportunity to prove myself.
None of these guys are authorised to have the same dates off but no one noticed hehe and with the expensive family holidays all booked and paid for no one would back down and cancel.
I just pray no disasters are lying in wait for me.

BTW, to really get people to need you why don't you flick the switch and bounce the servers a couple of times, sit back and watch the people run to you for help and then you can 'do your thing'. They'll be singing your praise for you when the bosses come back.

Everything is going fine so far, mail server went down yesterday but a simple restart seems to have fixed it.
You need the passwords as well as the ip addresses? I may as well just create you a domain admin account!
Using stuff like event id etc to check all the logs (loads) and generally just playing about on the network

Don't forget to install your root kit and a back door for later. Also changing all the passwords is a great idea too, think security.
