right guys I am in a bit of pickle...since sprucing up my desktop with widgets and wot nots...I want to know how to stop certain programs from starting up when XP loads up....reason being my RAM is being sucked up and am currently using a RAM booster program to take care of this but when I go into Task Manager it shows I have a whopping 72...yes 72 running processes...I have stopped a few but want to know how to permenantly stop from loading up at start up...thanks in accordance people...

Click Start

Click Run

Type msconfig

Click Ok

Click the Startup tab

i had that on lots of machines.. trouble is windows dosent really show enough info. So i carry about a program called codestuff starter, just an msconfig editor with bells. Good though!!

sysinternals have a useful prog called autorun or something
shows u what runs at various different levels

 

thanks guys...Phoenix your idea might be what I am looking for...cos there are some stuff running that do take up loads of RAM and I dont think I need them running...but I will have a butchers at all of them...thanks again people...
