I've used Audio Playback Recorder http://www.tongsoft.com/ for recording radio programs before, it's pretty straight forward and cheap. It will record anything going through your sound card and has a function where it detects the end of a song and starts a new mp3 file for the next song, handy for vinyl.

 

Gav may know the answer to this, as I think i helped him do something like that a while back
