Na, an impressive update would be Sony offering the PS3 at an affordable and reasonable price.

true but you'd still want software updates even if you paid a tenna for it.

They are pretty expensive eh? plus not that many games. I chose to get an Xbox360 instead. Especially since now they come with the 65nm cpu chips, so the unit does not heat up like the previous xbox's

Here's the thing, it's kind of hard to tell if all the xbox's that are being sold have the new chip. There has been some speculations that if the xbox is either in lot #0729+ then they have the new chip, the ones that are lower could still have the old chip. A lot of people are pretty positive about the new Halo edition xbox to have the new chip (code name Falcon). Some users have opened their Halo edition xbox and found the cpu to be the new smaller model.

Unfortunately there are still a few of the older model xbox's that are still being sold. I just recently got mine and I picked the one that was in lot #0731 and I've been playing it for a good week now and it has not crashed once on me yet.

If you are going to get one around this time it's still uncertain as to which model you are going to get. What you could do is wait until January 08 to make sure that you get the newer version.

Also later in 2008 there is supposed to be another version of the xbox available which is supposed to include a smaller graphics chip and the price is going to be lower.

i thought the xbox's that had the new chipset had a new chipset cooler as well, surely that would be a good give away that it has the new chipset ?
