I used to use Sandra back in the day, but it's been so long since I've tried any of these, I'm a bit out of touch.

I need something a bit better for soak testing repaired machines than leaving them powered on on a bench in the department. Any recommendations?

The budget is... undefined but I'd look for a trial first.

You really shouldn't soak computers. Water isn't good for them.

Make up your mind, woman! Do you want me to shaddap, or do you want me to be useful?

    Hi Arro

The computer shop I first started working with about 10 yrs ago always used PC-Check from Eurosoft. He's still using it now so must be getting on for 20 yrs.

I have an old version I use to run hardware checks as it boots with it's own o/s (effectively DOS).

PC-Check also allows you to create your own test sequences for soak testing via scripts.

Prob best thing is to contact them and discuss exactly what you need to do.

    Eurosoft can be found here

I use both QuickTest Pro & Winstress from Ultra-x, see here. Not sure if they do a demo, my version is alittle older (but did try a newer version at a mate's company recently), but we'll be looking into buying a newer release next year :)

I use MemTest86+ for RAM testing and Orthos for CPU. Neither of them have ever let me down - last time one of them found a problem with new RAM I plumbed into an ESX host - good job I bothred running it before putting into production!

what components do you need to test ?

I used to run multiple programs to insure it was fully loaded. The knoppix live cd was good, load into memory then run the memory and cpu tests on top as some cluster nodes would only fail under linux :confused3
