i think do said it all... IT isnt about the money anymore. If you going to make it in the IT world you have to be in it because you love the job everyday and not to make millions.. although i wouldnt complain if i did! :biggrin

yea, i know, just thought id have a look at whats on offer in the industry compairing it to what i was told at the infamous ST interview/interrogation heh.

Though you know, you could get lucky like a friend of mine who just landed a 23k a year job as an IT manager when the guy knows nothing about networking, let alone fixing a computer :dry

He has god knows what certifications in web design and built this company a website as a favour for his gf, and the company's IT manager was leaving that week so, since he had on his CV that hes changed a few components in his home PC over the years, it seemed to qualify him for this great job

The kick in the teeth about all this is, when i asked him what he was going to do if he had a real problem? his answer was clearly, what the hell have i got you for :x

ahwell its gonna cost him lol

Ahwell, ill be happy just doing a tech repair job of some kind for a PC shop to start with if i can.

If you can be lucky in getting a well paid position without experience and qualifications then that's great.

I do think people need to take these advertised salaries with a quarry's worth of salt though. Just because an advert says CCNA required, 30k+ etc... does anyone think they are going to get that job with just a CCNA and little experience compared to someone with years of experience with Cisco equipment + a CCNA?

You don't get to earn big bucks in IT unless you have got lots of experience and are very good at what you do or you are extremely lucky and where in the right place at the right time. Yes that can happen, people also win millions on the lottery most weeks. Neither has happened to me yet tho. :)
