Did anyone else just have access to the CF interrupted? I tried posting and it timed out. Did a ping and times alternated between 640 ms and network unreachable errors for a few minutes. Latencies finally back to normal, about 50 - 75 ms.

Looks like someone had router troubles for a little bit and they had to find a way around it.

Yeah, I had issues for a minute. Had a small coronary, went and fiddled on eBay, and the place was back up. Hats off to the techie :)

I was just curious if this interruption was in my path to the site, or if it was on the last hop into the site. It appears it was as I'm sure my path there is different than those of you from the UK.

Interesting, trip. Even now I can ping the site, but can't get a traceroute return past mzima.net. The router that was returning the destination net unreachable errors was a qwest.net router, and there are still several hops between qwest.net and mzima.net. Kinda strange how that worked. I would have thought that either the first or the last router in the path would have been the one to return the icmp error messages, not one about in the middle.

I don't have a clue either. It must be something about how the routers are configured, or the routing protocol used, but other than that I'm clueless. I've never even seen one of the advanced routers these trunk providers use.

The problem must have been the last router before helios.lunarpages.com. I was rather surpised to see where this site is located, geographically. :blink

UK hosting is so much more expensive, I never looked into why. It may be the strength of the pound or it maybe that there just isn't enough competition here to get the prices lower :biggrin
