    lol, cheers.

I took my interests off because people said it wasn't neccesary, there seems to be lots of different advice on what to put in the cv.

I actually saw a job today as an IT technician, which involved general support, network support and supporting applications on XP. The only worry I would have is exchange part of the job, I have never used it properly so not sure if I should apply.

Apply but state in your covering letter that whilst you do lack Exchange knowledge, your meet the other requirements. That way you are being honest and won't be expected to answer questions about exchange, but the ball is also in their court as to how important the Exchange knowledge is. It could be that you could be trained up, or that its vital, but being honest is the key IMHO.

On a side note, you'll notice Exchange or Lotus Notes experience required for a lot of IT Tech kinda roles so take the bull by the horns and get playing with them in your labs :biggrin Possibly even think about studying for 70-284 8)

cheers might do that then. The ad says to give the guy a call for an informal chat so will phone him today.

I have a copy of lotus notes but I think it's from about 500 years ago so probably not worth trying.

Been NP/DP certified for years, my friend. :) If I had to guess, I'd say it was sometime in early '02.

I've passed the CCIE written, but I don't think I'm anywhere close to ready for the lab. And I've knocked out one of the CCSP exams.

Thats amazing mate, you can come be a Network Architect for us if you'd like :biggrin Slightly more travel to here . . . . . but right up your street ha ha

I was reading about the CCVP/CCIE:V earlier. Very in demand over here at the min. On wiki it says a majority of people fail the CCIE Voice 3 or 4 times!!!! before passing :eek:

I must admit, I love doing what I do. Plus, my exams don't crash in the middle of the night... I don't miss the pager going off at 3am, I can promise you that!!! :biggrin

I believe the average number of attempts it takes for people to pass the plain-old vanilla CCIE R&S is 3.9 times. I don't have a link to back that number up, but that's the last data I heard!

Absolutely mate, Sparky makes me laugh when he writes that he's just been awakened by a downed server at daft'o'clock ha ha Not just that mate, by all accounts you are brilliant at what you do so why change a winning formula I say 8)

I can imagine, wiki said some take 6 attempts! All I can say is I hope their employers are paying for that or its a small fortune!!! I don't blame you for pacing yourself on that one! So will you resit the written to recertify? I assume thats how it works. I know the written renews you CC*P doesn't it. . . ?

I think you have three years after taking the written to take the lab. Not sure I'll be ready, particularly since I'm not pushing myself to study for it. I figure I'll be ready when I'm ready... no sense in rushing it.

I don't remember if the written renews the CCxP certifications. I do know that any 642-level exam will recertify all the CCxP certs...

EDIT: Probably ought to let the thread get back on the topic of GBL's CV. Hope the extra conversation brings more people to read the CV! ;)

I will say this... it's never a bad time to get your CV or resume in order, EVEN after getting a new position. Because once you've got a good CV/resume, all it takes is a little tweaking to keep it up-to-date... and therefore, you'll never be caught without one should something unexpected happen with your employment situation.
