    Hi all,

    I've been trying to fix a service users computer at the charity I work for, I've tried a few things now and nothing seems to work! Its fairly simple, none of the icons appear on the desktop, even when I try and add them, I think its an issue with the explorer.exe

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried

    Right click desktop->View->Show desktop Icons?

    [added]
    Correction for XP

    Right-click the desktop.
    Point to Arrange Icons By.
    Click Show Desktop Icons.

    Hiya, can list what you have tried?

    Does explorer.exe start at all, do you get the start menue, taskbar, and notification area, any errors?

    Have you tried changing the icon sizes to a different size, and saving the settings do they appear then?

    Service pack 2 or 3?

    (the reason I ask is I have sorted out a few similar issues at work, I'd love to know what caused them)

    The changing Icon size fix works when windows displays corrupt icons, you can change them back to normal size afterwards.

    If you log on as someone else can you see the desktop icons? Also can you see them if you browse to the desktop folder in the users profile?
