Sharing DVD Drive

In my home 2 desktop network (both WinXP_SP2)I have been unable to share the DVD writer of one with the other. Although I configured the drive for sharing, I have been unable to map the drive in the other PC and keep getting the message the drive is not ready etc. Does this mean the drive can't be shared? or there something else I can do? Please help

you can share the drive as how you would normally share anydrive....
i think that you get the "drive not ready" becuase when mapping to it, its looking for data but nothing is in there...
