    Hey all,

    I was just wondering how many people have used self study materials in training for their certifications? And which of you went threw some kind of training school? Could i also have a reason why you decided to do one over the other.

    I used self study materials to pass my A+ and CCNA and also for my MCSE which I am in the process of doing now. I chose self-study over a training course simply because of the price.

    How about you guys?

    Same here, for some exam I did the self-study route and for others i did training courses.

    Next time include both in your survey, otherwise you don't get a true representation :biggrin

    I went for the self study route for A+ 601 and 602, probably will do a course or two in the future though!

    Went through SkillsTrain, next time I'll do self study. Because I knew nothing when I started, the structure of a explicit study route was invaluable (even though I got NO help with questions). Since I now know enough to be able navigate a syllabus on my own, I will do the A+ self study. :D

    Self-study all the way. I learn better at my own speed... as fast as I wanna go without someone else slowing me down, and as slow as I wanna go if I need to take more time on a topic. Plus, it's MUCH cheaper.

    I am currently self studying for the A+ my reasons are as follows

    Cheaper
    Learn at your own pace
    No false promises of a job at the end of learning
     
    Certifications: A+, N+, MCDST, Security+, 70-270
    WIP: 70-620 or 70-680?
