    Hi,

I have a mobo which has SATA2 onboard. If I bought a PCI-Ecard to give me SATA3, would it actually be SATA3 speeds, or would the bus limit the speed, for example. Do PCI-E cards actually give SATA-3 performance, or is there a difference between native onboard SATA3 and SATA3 through PCI-E.

    Cheers

It appears a PCI-E card will provide a max 5.0Gb/s, compared to a native SATA-3 controller, which is 6.0Gb/s. Not the answer I wanted, but it's an answer!
