I posted this in the news section of the Linux Tutorial last week and it got a fair number of reads. You go, nerd grrls.

I'm not sure if I want to say "that's hot" or "that's cool". All I really know is that it's about time :)

I actually saw something I had never seen before today.

I was in the local Virgin Megastore where they have a Wii, a Playstation and an Xbox 360 set up. Usually you see teenage boys playing on them and generally getting on the store staffs nerves, but today I saw 2 very attarctive (maybe late 20s) girls playing some new car racing game and one was talking to her mate about the knackered USB ports on her PC and as I was looking at the PC games on the shelve behind her she said she was going to upgrade to a QX6600.

This is something I have never heard from a girl before, I was quite shocked :blink

      Only the bold-type matters :p
    5. NightWalker
Oh man, girls that even know what a QX6600 is are few and far between...
    6. greenbrucelee
The girl with black hair looked the oldest but the blond was nice.

It was the blond who was talking about knackered USB ports and upgrading to the QX6600.

The benefits of shopping in an actual store, don't get any of that on play.com :blink
Did you ask her what sort of CPU cooler she was going to fit?
    8. greenbrucelee
No, I nearly said I could show her my thermal paste but I thought I miight get a slap so I didn't.
    9. Sparky
Are you sure it wasnt a dream mate?! :biggrin
    10. greenbrucelee
Nah it was pretty weird though. I do know a girl who everyone says is good looking and she is a major geek, she's got more tech books than me.:blink
    11. NightWalker
A missed opportunity... a slap is better than none :)
    12. greenbrucelee
a slap in the middle of a store would be slightly embarrasing though.

It wouldn't be just a slap gbl, she probably lay you out when she went straight for your male connector. And you would have it coming. Give the geek girls the respect they desever or you will deal with Arr, Lee, and I. It because woman have to deal with that kind of additude and worse that woman do not want to be part of this field. It isn't cute, it isn't witty, and it sure as hell isn't impressing anyone execpt other jackasses that belong to your club. :dry
    15. Arroryn
So you spotted me then?

It wouldn't have been a slap. It would have been a thwack in the nadgers, and make sure you know it young man. :dry
    16. NightWalker
Blimey, with this kind of hostility its no wonder computer geeks are generally single
    17. Arroryn
lol. Well a lot of the CF men all seem happily shacked up with respective other halves.

Certainly all the CF women (that are active on the boards) are cohabiting. Female geeks don't have trouble finding partners - much like female engineers (please tell me someone else has seen that Dilbert strip!)
    18. greenbrucelee
      Yes maam sorry maam :D

If you could catch me <runs away>
    19. sunn
That is cool. It will be better if they win the race next year :)
