im I correct in saying the quickest way to do so is to .......................

    -Go to the DC
    -ADUC
    -Find user
    -right click
    -Reset password

theres supposed to be a way to do it from cmd prompt but I cant imagine its quicker than this method?

For a few accounts that would be fine. You can change a password with vbscript which is handy if you wanted to change lots of accounts at the same time.

Never used the cmd line for it though...

You may also want to check whether the account is locked out?

Would it not be quicker to create your own MMC with ADUC and all the other tools you use daily and just use that as you would only have to authenticate once and you don't need to be remoting onto the servers all day long.
