I have configured Remote Desktop Connection as follows:

    Server 01 (Server)

Allow Remote Desktop Connections To This Computer (System > Remote)
Added Remote Users To Remote Users Group (System > Remote)
Firewall Exception: Allow Remote Desktop Connection Enabled 192.168.0/24 (Domain Policy > Computer Configuration > Admin Templates > Network Connections > Domain Profile)

    XP1 (Workstation)

The issue I'm encountering is that if I try and RD to Server01 using an account which is in the User & RDP Group I cannot RD to the Server.

If I add this User to the Administrator Group, I can then RD to the Server.

Is this correct, as I thought that when I added a user to RD User Group they could RD to any PC including a Server?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Is the server 01 a domain controller? because if it is you have to be a memeber of domain admins in order to rdp to the pc. Unless you modify the group policy of the DC to alow other groups/users who are not members of the domain admins group. Unless I am mistaking, but I am sure I read something like that before.

Yep Server 01 is a DC.

That would make sense, thanks for your help :)

You're welcome. Were you able to set up RDP in the end?

Yeah it worked fine as Admin, but not as a User trying to RDP to the DC.

I just didnt know you couldnt RDP to a DC with a User unless you changed the default Groups od the DC.

    So, thanks again.

Just found the settings to allow RDP to a Server it is:

Default Domain Policy > Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Allow Logon Through Terminal Services or Access This Computer From Network (if using RDP and not TS like me)

Got to say I'm loving this Server stuff, the fog is lifting on lots of stuff we do at work!

I know what you mean. Sometimes you spend hours trying to understand something and other times it all just clicks, what a great feeling.
