I've had a few temp jobs from reed.co.uk back in the day, and they've usually been good with things..

I received an email from them today though:

I can imagine quite a lot of people would have received that email too...

What do you guys think about a popular recruitment website (up north anyway) stating MCSE as 'Entry Level' to jobseekers

Also I'm not too sure what that offer is... If it's for training AND exams (which would be quite cheap) or whether it's just for training.. or even just BD's

They obviously don't know what they're talking about.

I stopped using reed a good while ago, and this doesn't surprise me.

I get them all the time, I just bin em.

Submitting a CV or applying for a job is now the equivalent of sending your details to a Nigerian guy that says you've won the lottery !

You are just going to be targeted by every scam artist in town and put on the 'Sucker List'.

This is why I no longer have any time for :-

TP's, TP related credit compaines, Recruiters, Certification providers.

All any of them want to do is exploit fear in the workforce and line their pockets.

None of them really care about your industry, you, your job, your career, your education, end of.

I received a similar email from Reed recently talking about the Home Learning College who offer a whole selection of courses with no prices listed on the website the only mention I found of money was this wonderful tidbit from their blurb about the A+

I can safely say I'm in totally the wrong job! where are all these fantastically paid A+ certified computer technicians?

I get these all the time and would also like to know where these jobs come up (Cloud Cuckoo Land maybe)... I think they are all jumping on the bandwagon of training because people are so desperate to work in IT after seeing all those ads where everyone in IT earns at least 37grand. :blink

Yes I got it too (and get many similar ones from other sites).

My impression was that the salary quotes were part of Seek Learning's advertising and not that it was a direct quote from Reed.

The specialist IT offices Reed have (e.g. Bristol) seem ok and consultants at those I've spoken to know their stuff.

Yes I get all those off reed, TBH i've always just put it down to being SEEK/Home Learning College's advertising passed on by Reed for a tidy sum, I still check Reed for jobs as I don't see the need to limit myself.

I've always taken it in much the same way, the problem is many will assume that as it has Reeds logo plastered all over it that its absolute gospel truth and hand over their hard earned cash based on a dream that doesn't exist. And we all know what happens when people do that....

I got the email above and laughed!
I also wondered how an MCSE/CCNA could be both an entry level AND professional qualifcation..(and cost two different amounts).

    It's a trick question.

If you can differentiate between to two then you get a prize. The prize being not foolishly parting with your money for a useless training course.
