Hi

I'm trying to test recovery agent so I created the File Recovery certificate (.CER and .PFX files) using cipher command and imported it into Public Key Policies using the Group Policy Manager snap-in, but when I'm trying to access encrypted file (created after Recovery agent) by another user messeage appear 'Access denied'
I tested on my xp machine and on the W2K3 - still the same.

does the account that your setting up as a recovery agent have administrator privileges?
that is, a member of the administrators group?

 

yes it does, I'm setting as a administrator, I think that there is a problem with certificate itself

 

Ahh have you also imported it into the certificate manager certmgr.msc ?

you import your .PFX here, then import your .CER in the Group Policy Manager snap-in or Local Security Policy

I've installed a certyficate then imported .PFX into the certificate manager (Personal node) and CER in the Group Policy Manager snap-in and still 'Access denied', I don't know how to solve this issue.

 

hrrrn out of interest if your create a new file and encrypt under a different user do you still get the same with the agents account?

what happens if you create a new users and create a new file and encrypt?
