is it me or are couriers a complete waste of space ? ok here's why i might think this.

delivery 1: 32" tv, delivery note says deliver last so i can make it home in time from work. get home there's a note saying i wasn't in. luckily enough he comes back which is even more lucky as i came home early and would have missed his 2nd attempt too.

delivery 2: double bed, delivery note says phone half hour prior to delivery. so he attempts delivery and leaves the area then notices the note at the bottom. ends up delivering it the next day.

delivery 3: a double mattress, get a phone call the day of delivery saying the van has broken down and will deliver tomorrow.

delivery 4: N95 phone, was sent out last thursday on a next day delivery (nearly a week now) and there was someone in mon and tues 2 sign for it. this has yet to turn up and now cant be delivered as i wont be home in between delivery hours, the collection point is miles away which means i cant get accross town in rush hour in time to collect and they dont deliver saturdays. so its gonna get sent back to o2.

delivery 5: tv remote, was suposed to be delivered on monday and has yet to appear

for the bed and mattress the delivery companies said they'll phone prior to delivery, although i asked for half hour notice with the mattress they said they can only do an hour. guess what he phones saying be there in 5-10 minutes oh and where do you live i dont know where that is. :noway

    I love them! :biggrin

Still I think I had the time of my life with the fridge. Luckily I took a day off then. They were supposed to deliver it between 8 and 11, which they did. When they left we've realised that they delivered the wrong model (it was packed so we couldn't see before), we had to wait the whole day till they deliver the rest of items and come back to us again with the correct one which turned out to be dented. They told us to phone Currys and arrange the delivery of the new one, Currys said they will only replace the door, we said yes. Then they phoned us to say that this model is too new and they haven't got spare parts so they bring the new one. We finally got what we have paid for but it took over a month :x

Let's face it customer service has gone out of the window when it comes to the delivery service.:(

I ordered a bed and Mattress from D**** I stated I did not want next day delivery but wanted delivered on a day I wouldn't be at work. I suggested the weekend, but they said it was fully booked and it would have to be on a week day. They agreed to the date, wrote it on the invoice. I booked the time off work, then a day later they rang and said they could not delivery it on that day, but would delivery it on the weekend.:blink

Unable to change the day I booked. I took Friday off only to get another call from them stating they would be there in about 1 hour??
    :blink

WTF? When I questioned the delivery guy about the date and day he said it can only be delivered today or I go to the store and pick it up.

They arrive late and won't take the old Mattress away with them because it's not wrapped in a green bag. What green bag I ask? The one need for dumping old mattress down the tip. Haven't you got one on the truck, no he said they only sell them at the shop. The sales assistant should of explained this?:x

things might be looking up, checked their location and its only 10 mins down the road as opposed to the far side of dartford. gonna leave work early and get an earlier train home so i can go pick it up. you know when a company has gone to pot when you're having to do their job for them.

I can understand the frustrations expressed above, and have experienced similar myself. But is this not another example of a few folks with a few bad experience making a lot of noise about it ?

What if everyone else who has had a service delivered on time, without fuss - maybe even early - posting such here ?

Let's maintain a sense of proportion of how many items / services / whatever, are delivered across the world every day, then think about the few times it doesn't work out just right .... ?

    Only my opinion :)

I ordered "Programming Python" from amazon.com on Monday, a holiday here in the US, and it was delivered today(Thursday), 2000 miles from the shipping point.... :p

And, yes, the delivery driver looked like someone whose elevator doesn't quite reach the top.... :biggrin
