Haven't started on OS yet but I'll have a go

    [HIDE]
    1. A (Hopefully IO.sys is read before msdos.sys)
    2. D (Kind of an 'umbrella' answer as it covers both answers A and B. I assume Explorer would have not even started if the boot sector was corrupt. .cpl files are considered part of windows aren't they?)
    3. A (Only answer that seems logical)

I can see where you are coming from Harry, as it is win.com that starts windows, prior to that loading you only have DOS

TCM and I have exchanged a few emails on this subject!

My position is that it is a grey area.

All the books ive been using say io.sys

If the question was "what file does a win 98 system read first on bootup" would this be io.sys?

i reckon it the way the question is written, im a dodgy writer (as most should know by now) and i understand that the way CompTIA words their questions is also dodgy... so i may be making matters worse or not...

im gonna get screwed in my exams! ...hehe
