Don't you know I stumbled across something I would like to try in dreamweaver, but to do it I'll need to set up a testing sever. Now it says I can use my local machine for this. But it is talking about a remote folder. Does this have anything to do with remote desktop? Am I making sense here?

So adobe does not get mad, this is the link to what I have copy.

However, this is what I would be using it for.

    Hi Mitzs,

The remote folder is not related to remote desktop.

It looks like it's just a directory to store the dynamic files. Whether you are using the folder on your local pc or if it is hosted on a remote server it is still called a remote folder.
