After looking at your post, my advice would be prepared to start from the bottom. I started on a service desk, logging calls and assisting users on a first line support basis. Through dedication and willing to learn I soon progressed through the desktop support role on 2nd line support and now I currently work within the network team. Looking back I gained lots of experience at all levels and certainly helped making th step up each time. Hope this helped. As for course to take on next, maybe some microsoft exams to get some general desktop troubleshooting skills under your belt.
