LOL. The call is in less than 90 minutes. I'm still swilling coffee and trying to wake up. I need to take a shower and get ready because I have to go to work the minute the interview is over.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'll be more revealing once the interview has happened.

Ok, here's the deal. I was contacted by to men from the Microsoft Office User Assistance group. Among other things, they write help and support documentation for products such as SharePoint 2007, InfoPath, Project Server, and the like.

One of the issues is that Microsoft's HR department was supposed to contact me beforehand and fill me in on the deal. Unfortunately, they didn't do that so I went into the interview blind.

It wasn't a "job interview" per se, just a technical skills assessment. The two guys, Efren and Mark were very nice, friendly, and professional. Most of their questions I knew and a few I didn't (and I went completely blank when they asked about NetBIOS).

I guess the way they found out about me is that someone in HR spotted the SharePoint book I co-wrote, found my resume online and passed it to these gentlemen.

They said that someone would be in contact with me in the next ten days to either continue me in the formal project or to let me know that they wouldn't continue.

They said that they'll forward me a copy of the job description and have HR contact me to answer any of my questions. They didn't even know if I could do this job from my current location or would have to relocate to Washington state.

They both gave me their phone numbers and encouraged me to call if I hadn't heard back from them or HR very soon.

I think the interview went well but I was more nervous than I wanted to be. I'm not even sure how I'll feel about it if they make an offer. If they want me to relocate, it'll have to be a very substantial offer and of course the missus will have to agree.

That's about it. The whole thing took just over ten minutes. Now, back to the grind.

They sent me the job description and if I'd have seen it, I might not have applied (not that I applied in the first place). Of course, all job descriptions are "wish lists" and not necessarily "absolutes". The job has been open since April 27 so it's been available for over a month. I understand there are other candidates though.

We'll see how ego boosting this will turn out to be as time goes by. The guys who saw my resume had no context for it. The CV was just forwarded to them by someone in HR. If they offer me a face-to-face interview, that's when it'll get interesting. :bites-fingernails-down-to-the-bone: :D

Nice one Trip hope things work out for you, to get noticed by such a company means youre good and if you get the chance go for it.

Maybe you get a sneak at the new opearating system then get a patent before they do then add some slight changes then sell it back to them and change your name to Bill:biggrin
