I cant remember if the same applies to PCI as they do to AGP so someone needs to remind me.

As we know certain motherboards have certain AGP slot versions 1,2,4,8 and that on a AGP 1 you cant put a AGP 8 card in for example.

Well the question is PCI there is nothing like that right? or is there? I can slot any PCI graphics card into a PCI slot right?

    ps PCI not PCI-E 8)

    LOL!

I remember when PCI graphics cards came out. The general opinion was dont touch them as AGP cards offer better performace. 8)

Sparky IIRC PCI graphics cards pre-dated AGP by quite some time, a few years I think

Whoops, to be honest I’ve totally lost touch with hardware specs since I’ve stopped playing games (still play the odd game now and again though).

I remember the computer mags reviewing graphics cards and pointing out that PCI cards just couldn’t match AGP cards. I had one of the 3dfx cards that don’t even exist anymore, happy days! :biggrin

    Zim,

The best place for (debaitable :) ) for second hand PC componants is Ebay. You can grab some bargains- just check on the P&P before making that final bid :thumbleft

Also, there is something called the Freeads or also known as the *yellow paper*. It is about £1.70 and is published every Wednesday- Check your local newsagents.

The paper will be local to you and if it is anything like the one down here has loads of PC parts and built systems for sale going cheap.

I missed out on a P4 (2.8), 512 DDR, ATI 128 Card, with CRT (fully working system) that sold for £100 this week.

    Regards

    Si
