Okay, I know they are expensive and have a poor rep but has anyone ever worked for PC World? was thinking of applying for a service post in their repair/upgrade centre. Do they pay ok etc ?

I cant commnet on the wages or the job but I'd say its worth a try, it might help you get your foot in the door so to speak. Also I'm sure its better than a "tea boy" :)

What do you do now BTW as I'm guessing your not really a tea boy?

I have been trying to get a job with PC World since I was 19! (yes its sad I know) but I feel I know I could do a good job...saying that I did work at Dixons 3yrs ago in Newcastle and it was good, the pay wasnt bad either, but I was only there for a month or so as it was Xmas job...I was going to apply again but then realised it will only again be for Xmas jobs...so I will wait until after the new year...everytime I apply I always get turned down...yet when I go there I know what I am looking for and the staff themself dont know a lot...I am sure my granny will know more! but saying that thats the way they have been trained so you cant really blame them all...so I would say go for it...like Si said its a foot in the door...I will carry on at BT until I find that IT job whether its in PC World or some little PC shop..

I work for a major Photocopier/printer manufacturer as a specialist field tech. I have good company car etc but the pay is not great although I would be suprised if PC World could match it. I am maybe going to become more involved in the IT side of things at work once I get certified. They are giving me all my in-centre training days as paid holidays, rather than me having to use my standard. Fingers crossed I pass next week and the ball will start rolling. I work with a guy that does IT field support for companies that buy PC's etc from us but are to small to have there own IT guys. Basically the same job as me but PC hardware and small networks, my dream first IT job if I can get it.
Plus the f#$**r has a better car than me!
