pc keeps rebooting only when installing xp

    my ibm 6846 keeps rebooting when I try to install xp home but when I installed windows 2000 there was no problem.
    one more thing please could you explain what disk controller error means, this is displayed system viewer?

    You could try running the XP home upgrade after the full 2k install as a test :biggrin

    Sounds like a hardware compatibility issue to me.
    You could try what Sparky suggests or use something like Belark to list your hardware to pinpoint the culprit.

    You might get some joy by upgrading the BIOS to the latest version.
