    Hello,
I am about to start my first ICT Support job, and i want to become certified, i have looked at microsoft's website and seen the MCDST, i think i should start with that.
A few questions for those who have done the exams,

    1. Do i have to pay Microsoft £220 for each of the e-learning courses?
    or can i
    2. Buy some second hand books and just pay for the exams?

£220 is quite steep for each course i think.

Any advice as to the best path for this certification would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Martyn.

    Hi Welcome

You can just buy the relevant books to study with, then book the exams with a test centre and take them.

But I would say not to start with MCDST I would say start with the compTIA A+ first then either MCDST or N+ next but do both anyway.

If you want to get the MCSA at some point then the A+ and N+ count towards electives towards it, so they are good certs to get.

    WIP: 70-620 or 70-680?

Just a question - Where did you get that figure of £220 from?

    Welcome to CF BTW. :biggrin

I think he means the e-learning that MS do, but I don't know if it is that price.

Just buy books, study them thoroughly (do the labs, if they have them), and take the exams when you're ready. :)

The £220 came from microsoft's e-learning subscription, which thankfully i don't have to pay,

    thanks again
