Got a problem on a training server we have. Someone has changed the local and domain password for the administrator on the server so unable to logon at all. Tried safemode with/without network support. Is there a way of hacking into the server so i can reset the passwords.

    Any help appeciated.

If you have physical access then there are things like ERD Commander. There are also open source equivalents.

If you have an admin-level access you could look in the logs to see who did it (assuming your logging is good ebough).

Download and burn to CD "Nt Offline password editor" LINK: http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ this is a linux based live cd that lets you remove the administrator password and reset it. hopes this helps

I would strongly recommend using torture methods on the individual responsible for the password changes. :microwave

The idea of a "training" server is it does nothing, therefore you just re-image it when someone breaks it.

if you have let trainees on an important server you got issues

This is late I know but I have just finished an article which will help you recover the password:

Recovering Your Forgotten Windows XP Password

I can confirm it will also work on Windows 2003 Server when account passwords are shorter than 15 characters.
