I've already passed the Network+ 2005 version but I was wondering whether I should buy some books for the 2009 version just to keep up to speed with current technologies ?
(obviously I'm not going to resit the exam)

What are the main differences between the two?

Whilst I don't know the differences between the two, I've done the 2005 version, and if I had the time and had nothing else to do/study/learn then I may especially if I was looking around for a new job that used the info that I learnt for the 2005 exam.

A general interest in IT and working in the field will probably allow you to come across most of the differences.

Edit - a thought about the differences, just look at the new syllabus and read up on the things you don't recognise or know about.
