This is my first post, so hi everyone.

I just passed the A+ before Christmas (220-701, 220-702).
The exams weren't too difficult at all, although I found some questions really were quite ambiguous (anyone else found that?).

Just wanted to thank everyone who has posted info on these forums, I have found it a very useful resource.

I have already started studying for Network+, and plan to do the Microsoft 70-680 after that.

No I'm not working in IT yet, and without a degree, I suppose that will be somewhat difficult.
However, with a good collection of Certs, I figure I wont be entirely unemployable

At best I hope to get into 1st line support, and at worst, I will have Certs that prove IT competence, a bonus for any job interview.

It always amazes me how employers ask for a degree in anything no matter how irrelevant! I could have a Degree in Mesoamerican Pottery, and get hired!

Surprisingly, there have been quite a few jobs offered out here in the sticks, that I'm not even half qualified to do.....yet, so after the 70-680 I will be aiming for much higher Certs, so I have more options. Hopefully, before that, I will have my foot in the door somewhere

Good luck with the job hunt - you definitely don't need a degree to get into IT!

Apply for new jobs every day, write tailored covering letters and follow up with the companies who don't contact you.

 

Well that's good news! I will be doing that

Incidentally my certificate arrived in the post today! I had thought it would take around 8 weeks!
