I stand to be corrected on this, but as far as I'm aware, OE stores its folders for the users in in users profile in the Application Data folder. As this is part of their roaming profile OE travels around with the user when they log on and off. Of course, users must make sure that they are only logged onto one machine at a time and that they are set up for IMAP not POP.

    I think that's how it goes! :?

After all that anguish...here's the solution:

    Right click "Outlook"
    Select Properties
    Select E-Mail Accounts
Under Directory, select "View or change existing directories or address books
    Click Next
If not already highlighted, select "Outlook Address Book" and click on Remove
    Click Finish
    Click on Add
Click on the "Additional Address Books" radio button
    Click Next
    Select Outlook Address Book
    Click Next
    Click Finish
Click Close to close Mail Setup

The contacts magically reappeared, no muss, no fuss.
The boss just had to show me the process, then I understood. :)

Excellent summary of a rather long and drawn-out discussion, Trip. Yet another one that is worthy of condensing into a Knowledge Base article...any volunteers ???

And not a single flame during the whole 2 pages, either (dang, I'm losing my touch !!! :gun )

You know, sometimes is easy to see why :iluvcf

In some ways, I like the current thread. It shows the troubleshooting process in operation rather than just the answer. For me, how I arrived at the solution is at least as valuable to me as the actual answer.
