    Hi,

Any advise, one of the companies directors has made a request. initally I told him it was not possible. but just wondering if it is??

What he wants to do is have an attachment auto insert into an email when a specific email is entered/sent.

The attachment is a form which is stored on a server.

My first thought was how would outlook know when to attach the file?

    I hope this makes sense,

So if anyone can help/point/guide in the right direction or just tell me that this is fantasy (come back to the real world!!!). As this department does have a habit of coming out with these type of idea's...

It would be interesting to know if it is possible!!

    Thanks:)

Off the top of my head - not sure.

Might be possible with a bit of VBA tho'

Not what they are looking for, what they want is when someone sends an email to a specific email eg. [email protected]. they want outlook/exchange to auto attach a form to it as the form is in excel already.

I have given then the alternatives mentioned in the links above to see what they thinks.

    Thanks UKDarkstar for the advise:)

Ah right, so they want an auto reply (like the out-of-office assistant) but the reply attaches an Excel form ?

Hmmn, that's suggesting back to VBA maybe in my mind unless others know different ? I'll have another look through my books and stuff to see if I can find any suggestions. If I do I'll post here or send you a PM.:thumbleft

OK, not sure if you use Exchange BUT if not (or if you can set the email as a POP box) then try this :

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011223851033.aspx

Basically you create a template for an outlook reply message (and you can attach the file) and then create rules so it does the autoreply when a message is received from the specified mailbox.

Not tried it so don't know if it will work but you could easy set one up and see.

    Hope it helps ! :biggrin
